Been busy on the car!

Engine in and running, bias box done, polycarb windows in just need to sort the front of the rear ones

Have you got the cams in, or are you going to tune later, when a lot of the work has been conquered.
Is that an aluminium 'stat housing (not plastic) ?

Chris Ransley sells those alloy stat covers,,, just got mine last week

Ye alloy stat housing.... Plastic one was cracked!

No cams in this one, just m50 manifold, BBTB, M3 manifolds, Light solid flywheel and remap

I have another engine with very low miles which im putting in the 330ci M54 Crank, Rods and Pistons and then Cams so it will be a 3.0 M52

With less than a week to the first event i have loads of work!!

But its coming on ok!

Nightmare stage 1, electronic cartek cutoff fried half way in first stage, managed to bodge it to get to end of stage but had stage maximum....

Sorted it in pits and then got going!






It was a boiling day and car was getting very hot

Then we started to push like mad to see what the car could do!!





On the 5th stage out of 6 we put in a great time, only 2 and 4 second off the top running mk2's

So we pushed even harder in last stage, but it was a bit much :-/ lost control on a long 90 right doing about 70mph and hit a big bale... Lucky it moved when we hit it or it would have totalled the car had it been a solid object!




So I have a lot to sort on the car now...

New cut off
Rear quarter to fix, and check for suspension damage...
Over heating problem, going to fit m3 rad and expansion tank
Suspension was terrible, I'm running the bilstein challenge suspension, so need to sort springs

Cossybevan666 on britishrally.co.uk told me to do the rad before, but I tried without so now I need to do that,,, he had also said I can convert my front to coilovers, giving more spring options...

What suspension and springs do u all find best for Tarmac??

Well done mate! - How'd the car feel power wise then?
Going by the pictures it looks real soft on the back. My compact race car runs 275lbs springs on the rear coilovers,,, I think I'll be trying 250's and 275lbs on my 2.8 rally car (when ever I get it finished) to see how she feels.

Power was good, came onto one stage on the split behind a 240bhp mk2 escort and I was all over him, only reason I didn't pass him was because he was leading his class and I know him, I didn't wanna mess his result up! So just sat behind him

Rear end is VERY hard

Well going by the pictures, it's lifting a front wheel!,,, are you running a rear arb?
It could be the valving of the rear dampers that's making ita feel "hard"

Gonna try and dig out my photos and finish the build thread! Although its back tracking a bit as i have already done my first event!!!
