got some 7 series brembo's as part of the deal (hopefully) going to make them fit, just need to take time sussing out disc size and adapter bracket etc. clearance won't be an issue as it will be on 18"

a good productive day yesterday, with all the loom removed!! serious wires! dash and heater removed, then we had a meet with a nice fellow who is going to make and fit a cage of the spec we require next month this will pick up the diff and beam and run to the front/rear strut towers, plus a few other mods etc.. Anyway back on with the cack job of tar removal

I'm still traumatised and they disturb my patterns.

I keep trying to pearl a yellow with black stripe when I should be knitting a black with yellow stripe.

Hey boyz, If I get chance I'll do the cage a bit earlier than we agreed. It depends how I get on with the greenhouse on wheels.

bro' has labelled all the loom and promised me he knows what it all does, i didn't see him use the snips often

We want some kind of 4-pot on the front with a minimum 315mm M3 sized discs - but i've not had time to get in to the detail yet. Would also prefer a vented disc set-up on the rear but i want to stick with non m-coupe arms.

Going to pull the rear beam off next and install some solid ends

is that a custome cages cage in the pic as they do 1 very simlar, very nice looking cage ! Also hockly do a gd range of compact cages at gd prices imo. Cage is a bit of a sticking point 4 me hhhmmm

done some homework on cage's, as the car is getting built to the blur book rather than f.i.a, certificated cages are for some msa/fia events, so generally not needed for the clubbie, so opted for our own spec of cage, done by a guy who has worked for m.sport amongst others . whats your views on it?

That sounds a good idea i never thought of that. So what are the advantages / disadvantages of doing a cage this way and is there a cost advantage.

thats the idea, hopefully the cage is made and fitted for the price of just purchasing a "named" cage, if it all works out maybe it could be good for others. looks like we are "guinea pigs" on this one only dissadvantage is no papers to go rallying in europe?

Compacts are very popular in Europe - I'm going for an OMP cage in the new one so it has all the certs for Europe just in case. I keep hearing good things about European events so keen to keep the option open...

Any reason for wanting to avoid Z3M/M Coupe arms? (Bigger bearings & shafts.)

I failed to find any off the BMW shelf rear vents to fit with compact arms/hubs.

Mainly to maintain compatability with the E30 we are running and avoid swapping output flanges on the diffs. We think we're doing the right thing maximising the track width too as it will be arched.
Plans are still a little fluid until we are fully measured up , i wouldnt rule out an upgrade to mcoupe output flanges shafts and arms in the future

spoke to the m.s.a regarding the our cage idea's, very helpful, cage doesn't need cert to run on national "A" and "b" events and if you want to go to f.i.a land its all on the organising club, but most don't worry if the car is to m.s.a. blur book spec or better only custom-cage rollcages ask you to send a sample of weld to m.s.a. so that the cage can recieve homologation certs.
