Garths 318 Road Rally Thing

Hi all,

After much pressure from Kevo, I decided to make a little thread showing my new project. Bit of history, I bought the car off Kevo end of last year. I've started bits and bobs on it, just trying to find time and if the weather permits me to work on it. It's really hard without a garage!

Here she is on the outside...........




So I've taken out the interior, and started on getting the car a bit lighter. I've chipped away for hours at the soundproofing, but i've still got loads to get off. Kevo came down the other day and sorted much of the wiring out for me. We filled a bag of wantless wires and other crap. Glad that's out of the way!





As for components so far, they are..........

Kevo Spec Diff (nicey nicey)
Braided Hoses through the car (Being made)
Hydraulic Hand Brake
OMP Bucket Seat and Alloy Mounts
TRS 6 Point Harnesses

Bits for the future just runs on and on, so I wont go too much into detail yet. I've bought a LSD of a bloke in London, so I'm off to pick that up on Monday hopefully. Next big jobs are Suspension and a Multi Point Cage.

M40 or M42? not that it matters. With a LSD it will be fun .

No he just had a spare so I lobbed him some dollar. He knows his stuff fair play! Well as for the red road rally 318's we'll have to have our own little league on a few road rallies! Including a drift corner!

No it was on the car when I bought it, so H477 GAR is a real pleasure. Know anyone who has an RS Turbo? I know it's a bit random but I have a plate L371 RST.

Update: All the braided hoses have been done now, so I'm off to BMW and motor factors to get discs, pads and ball joint etc in the week. I'll be after bits of trim soon if anyone has some stuff please let me know. I'll put photos up in the week.

C'mon G the Twiglet is still like 4 weeks away, bit of grease on the elbows and she'll be done if you need me to make the tea (im not brilliant at it mind you ) i'm there. Drift drift drift...

She's still there, you can't make tea and you can't drift either!

Anyway, I bought some new ball joints for her last week, so Kev and I have made a deal to get her running in 2 weeks. A bit optimistic considering I'm moving in less than 2 weeks, but he won't take no for an answer. Good thing though!

Things to do next.....

Refit all the bits Kev robbed off me!
New hoses for the engine as mine are split and as loose as square flops
Fit ball joints
Fit LSD
Weld hydraulic bar in
Find some trim
Get MOT

Now where's my camera?

Well me and Kev fitted all the stuff back, and replaced the split hoses. Took the bottom arms of today, the inner ball joint on both sides are dead and so are the bushes. Thats what's next. Hope I can get all the bits back in time before next friday.

Bit of an update, diff is built and in. Brakelines fitted and secured just having problem bleeding the things. I need an exhaust next and then she's ready for mot. Don't worry I haven't given up on it. Just haven't had the internet up untill not after moving from home. Next bits after mot is cage and suspension and rack.
