I went to car transplants today and found this!





S reg, 104k on it, 1600, sunroof , rear disks!!!

Its a cat c right off, wants maybe a backpannel, rear bumper maybe, pull on the rear leg, and that should also take the dents out of the rear quaters.


with £50 delivery charge to my mates body shop, £450!

Bargin i thought

just have to take it for mot then vic test i think before i do any work on it. I knw itll be ok from transplants, but just to make sure!

I plan not to do anything with the engine or box until it has suspension and all guards on it

So, i have a sump guard from an escort cossie one of those kevlar ones, thatll fit ok i think. How do you go about tank guards?

brakes, as its got rear disks, can i just get 5 series brakes for it? if so what do i need and what master cylinder?

aparently in eurocar parts there is billstein b4 shocks, my mate said the rears are £38 ea, not sure about the fronts, these are the ones i want arnt they? can i get them cheeper any where else? What springs do i want?

What diff ratio is in this car then? what should i be looking for? I want a lsd what cars came with them?

is there any weak points on the car that i shoudl know about?




im going to go for a weld in cage on this car, i dont want a mega thing, but full cage, door bars cross int he back etc, whats best to go for and how much?




i knwo its a lot of questions, but need to know as ill do a list and give it to my mate in the local scrappy, then he can reserve parts for me when i dont knwo of them!

Hi Jon, firstly, that will most likely be a 1900 single cam engine. If it has rear discs, they did make a 316 that had a 1900 in, these had rear discs as opposed to drums on the 1600.

If I were you, I would possibly take the car to somewhere like "Caged" or one of these outfits that will knock you a cage up to your spec. For road rallies it won't need to be FIA approved, am I correct?

Diff ratios are crap as standard, that car will most likely have a small case diff, and they are very rare in LSD form, best option is a medium case diff from a Z3, then find a 518 auto CWP which is 4.45:1.

I didnt know the 518 had the diff i want! so where do you get the lsd part from then? Does the medium casing just bolt straight on and take my shafts? Are there different shafts also?

Simon checked teh chassie number on a vin convertor program he has and he recons on it being a 1600... Would be nice if it was 1900, but i dont think so now

Well, the cheaper option is the OMP cage that I fitted to the car that Simon now has, however, they take forever to deliver, bloody Italians............

The more expensive option is a cage from Custom cages, these are much beefier and better in my opinion, but each to there own.

I may have some stuff you are interested in, but you will have to be quick as I have got to have a tidy up this week, and I will be going to the scrap yard.

I have a 1999 LHD Compact shell, rear bumper and tailgate are good, it has a disc-braked rear beam but no diff or shafts.

50000 mile M44 1900 twin cam as mentioned before, absolutely everything, including the EWS chip which you would need.

Set of 4 8x15 raceline RL-7"s, nice wheels..............

Fisrt job stick some vented front discs and calipers on from any non-M3 E36. (They're all 286mm.)

EWS chip is the immobiliser and it's req'd to get the engine running.

Use E36 shafts with an E36 LSD diff and the 4.45 CWP comes from a 520i auto 1988 - 1990.

Jon, yep, tyres are included, they are very useable Kumho V-700 Tarmac tyres.

Not got a steering wheel boss, but do have loads of other bits and bobs, you can have a scour round if you come up.

Uttoxeter is not very far away at all, I will PM you in a bit.

This is what you need for a 4.4 Crown wheel and pinion

It will probably go for around £250-£350 but you will get most of that back in scrap value as it is Bitching And has been Pimped

Try and get hold of a 325 lsd and build the lsd into the casing off the 4.4 also if you are playing with the back end convert it to a e36 rear cover

Typo/brain fade. It's E30 shafts and E30 LSD diff that you need.

right, e30 shafts, i know where there is a set of those, but will my car have bog shafts as it already has disks? My mate is making a trailer of a e30, for his e30 cabby. Could be a nice cheep source of bits!



there is a 520 in runcorn for sale, its on £20 now ill bid on it i think!
