There from rally design, a lot cheaper than there braided drop pipes as well.....

Been a while but there have been many modifications since the last update!

One of them was some 4-pot willwoods because the standard brakes were shocking!!

I entered a hill climb last week, the whole car was brilliant apart from the brakes, I have a weak right leg because of an operation i had about 4 years ago and by the end of the event my leg was hurting from having to push the pedal so hard so i think i am going to have to go back down the servo assisted route!

Anyone want to buy an e30 bias pedal box??

Now, I have access to an e39 5 series servo, master cylinder etc etc does anyone know if i will be able to bolt that servo into an e30? Vacume pipes ar not a problem because sbd cater for that in there inlet manifold.

bias box's do get some getting used to.

i trust you have a .625 front cylinder and a good leverage ratio - i worked on a 6.25 to 1 ratio iirc.

it may not be economical but could you fit a remote servo or some form of brake booster, keeping in your bias box?

Any plans for a rally yet ?

I honestly think the pedal box would be fine if my leg was stronger because the wheels will lock up if i push hard enough. But as it has been 4 years since the operation i don't think my leg is gonna get any stronger

As far as i can see you can only get remote servos for single line systems so i would have to buy 2 remote servos which will be expensive!

Anyone know of a twin line remote servo?

First rally is in July if i can get an entry I am doing my BARS test this weekend so wish me luck!

I started fitting the servo last night and it's a tight fit!!

2 questions,

Does it matter how hot a servo gets? It is right next to the exhaust manifold but i am going to wrap it in heat shield.....

Will it affect the servo if you put a small dent in it? The servo touches the exhaust manifold at the moment so i was hoping to dent it a little to stop them touching.......

The servo has a rubber seal inside the drum (body), so yes it does matter about it getting hot and you musn't dent the drum otherwise the vacuum pressure will be seriously affected
Are you attempting to mount it on the drivers side or in the original position on the passenger side?

In the original location, there is deffinately no room on the drivers side.....

Will the 5 series master cylinder bolt onto an E30 servo? If it does just check that the internal servo push rod (that pushes the master cylinder piston) is the same length as the E39 servo.
Maybe just revert back to the full E30 master cylinder/servo assembly as I think the issue with poor braking on E30's is down to the smallish size of the discs/pads....which you have upgraded

The 5 series m/c won't fit on the e30 servo and both servo's are the same size anyway.

A mate of mine tried the standard servo setup with the 4 pots and he said the pedal just got spongier so i don't want to put all the standard stuff back on.....

What i think i am going to have to do is press my manifold slightly to stop it touching the servo then fit my heat reflector matt around the servo then hopefully that will keep it cool enough......

Spongy brakes is usually a sign of air in the system or the master cylinder has a failed internal seal which would draw air in.....presume you can't alter the engine height at all?

No engine is perminant thats for sure!

It wasn't so much spongy as he recconed that it took too much fluid to feed all of the pistons so the pedal traveled a long way.....

have you looked at the possibilty of using a 25mm MS from a 750i on an e30 servo? there was some discussion about this on e30zone a while ago.
