cheers ptr have you got any plans for the near future?

Been working hard over the last few weeks on new Garage....just about done.
E30 needs all 4 corners off & check over, going to dump the E36 seeing as it probably wont work for rallying.. ...if you know anyone, will be great value....

Thats a proper garage

short update, the avo inserts in the front legs give up the ghost (again) so, in our infinate wisdom, decided to use challenge inserts in e30 m3 front legs and coilover them, unfortunately bilstien u.k gave us the runaround for 9 weeks then said they couldn't help!!
so we started to panic and after some searching found a company that had the base insert and could re-valve to our settings. they're now in the garage looking like this


but have 4" more travel, screwing over the camber settings etc , so inbetween hols we are going to get the thing somewhere near and pray it works on the pendragon

Where did you get the coilover conversions from? Been looking at some to convert my legs, different companys quote different internal sizes. I have currently got challenge front springs and it sits stupidly high at the front.

we didn't have to machine them just chopped off the top and some of the spare metal off the bottom, there rear escort coilover kit.

the front our the car has also been running high, so we decided to lower it at the front and fit a helper spring and adapter to the front, that also has had to be machined to slide on the body as it was too tight. this should improve camber and help dive/ loading up the fronts under braking. these will be tested on the tyneside stages and all being well we will be able to run a similar set up on the compact.

Curious how the coilover conversion has gained 4 inches of travel (which must make a huge improvement), presumably with the standard challenge length damper cartridge. Is it simply due to being able to run a longer spring?

Are you still using the BMW topmount or have you gone for somthing shallower?

Some further pics before you put it all back together would be great.

Our original dampers were based on m3 ones that were shorter. The new sellholm dampers have longer rods (i think they are bilstein b6 based). Travel is 180-190mm. Our top mounts are now inverted, with a slightly modded top mount, for us this was the best way to lower the car - having said this we still run a decent ride height
