Thanks M3 Compact for the info.

Have viewed every nook and cranny of this site - but with so much info its a bit like 'can't see the wood from the trees'. However now that we have our base line we will go through the site again.

Hopefull post up some pics soon as well.

Haven't posted in a while, but we were busy building a Compact.

Progress to date
Car stripped - mechanicals and interior
Cage is in and painted (Who invented sound deading material).

All the interior bits have arrived from Murray Motorsport - Seats / Harnesses / Extinguishers etc.

Next job is to transfer the mechanicals from the doner car.

Have loads of pics but must sort out a hosting site first.

Great stuff.

Are you double-skinning the turrets? Are they seam welded?

My dead S50 shell wasn't double-skinned and deformed the turrets badly.

The most affected seams were the outer edge of turret->inner wing and the one around the rear of the turret. When I took the fuse box out - I could get my finger in the gap! :shock:

Not a long term build - hoping to be out in April.

Turrets were seam welded. Double skinning the front turrets is on our list - which is growing longer every day.

At the moment all we have nearly all the bits to get the car rolling - just have to get stuck in.

We are trying to figure out how to convert the rear of an e30 to a 5 stud?

The only major purchase left is the shocks / springs.

Just curious why you want to convert the rear of an e30 to a 5 stud ?
E30 M3 5 stud flanges are dear and then you would have to fit e30 m3 rear brakes. The wishbones are the same.
Without having spacers machined up wont you be running different `et` wheels?

Can't you just use a compact drive flange (hub) with the E30 arms? (Same bearing.)

Not sure about mixing e30/e36 parts. i suppose it depends on how many standard brake parts you want to use.
I think compact wheel bearings are thinner, but later z3 wheelbearings are the same size...please check

Compact wheel bearing is the same size/part number as E30, 318ti (disc braked) compact brakes/hub etc - job sorted surely? :?:

She's running and also stopping.
90% there.
Fit the dash - Harnesses - Sump Guard - mud guards is propably all the major jobs left.

Apologies for the photos - have tried all combinations and they still not visible. It worked for me last january - but that was propably luck.
