You can use E30 driveshafts with the compact hubs, if you use the E30 output flanges in the Z3M diff.

Have you got the arms with the Z3M diff? The arms/shafts/bearings etc are much bigger & stronger, but you might have to use the Z3M brakes with 17" wheels.

You'll need to sleeve the CWP bolts to use the M14 Z3M LSD unit with an M12 4.45 CWP.

Thanks M3 Compact. I havent got the arms etc with the diff as I have always wanted to keep the build simple.

Z3M Diff is not delivered. It appears its my fault why they didnt send it as promised for today (friday). Hows that work.

Good news, I have ordered my seats, harnesess and fire extinguisher today from Motordrive. Here in 3 weeks, so by then should have diff sorted if I can get a CWP.

Soon have a final short list of things to do. Not bad I only started in Jan/Feb and I havent a clue what im doing.

Hi Russ, Yes think so as I was advised by John @ JC Racing that it would help with cooling and diff life.

Have you got Z3M arms/hubs etc hiden away in your stores which would sort my driveshaft problem out? I can remember you saying that you had one side??? Or any ideas.

I see. I suppose there is little chance of ripping it off if you plan on sticking to the tarmac.

Diff arrived, looks ok. All confused now nothing fits.

Using standard M3 5speed box with prop shaft that I think is off a M3 (possibly 3.2) 6 bolt.

It would appear that the propshaft will be too long after I spoke to Phil at PDL and visually the 6 bolt pattern is different. Any ideas for simple bolt on prop. He has fabricated an existing 318 front section and mated it to a 328 prop (i think)

I understand that I need to alter the top bolt fixing to the backplate (countersink and flush bolt) and slighty tap the chassis for a snug fit.





Hopefully Russ (m3heaven) will sort me out with a big hammer.

Ordered my plastic window kit and mud flaps today. Think I know how to fit them.

Ordered my Suspension and polybush bits so busy times soon.

As per pm, it looks like the original input flange has had an additional two holes drilled (2 nad 8 o'clock positions on your picture). Assuming it is the original input flange, an E36 325i prop will fit for now.

Agree with Russ. My Z3M diff has a 4 bolt input flange.

3.2L M3 props are too short to use with a 5 speed box.

Hi Chaps, Just a update on the car. All road legal now and nearly ready for MSA inspection.

Only concerns are that the original rear brake calipers and discs are not going to slow me down enough. Any ideas other than changing to Z3M arms.

I am yet to put new bmw dics and mintex pads in the front (running E36 M3)

Also would it be an advantage to run 18'' wheels as I understand that part worn race tyres are cheaper and plenty out there? I will only be doing airfield type stage rallys.

18" tyres are plentyful out there, much cheaper than 15" comp rubber, as for the brakes with comp pads in the rear calipers are normally better than you think, you could fit e30 m3 rear discs n calipers if you wanted .
