Which Lanes Rally Car

I would like to buy a car to use in Lanes Rallying. These events are to help encourage necomers into motorsport, and run on a mixture of surfaces including farm lanes, industrial estate roadways etc.

The popular choice is Mazda MX5, Midgets, Mini's, rwd Escort and a mix of small fwd machines. Personally I fancy a BMW 325ti Compact but would like to hear your views? What upgrades would i need to consider such as,type of suspension? Can I fit an LSD from another BMW?

Uk? If so only 4 cyl? 325ti is a 6 banger..

Events based in Northern Ireland, so yes UK. Classes seem fairly open so that's my reason for suggesting the 325ti 6 cylinder engine(and sound), however I'm completely open to all suggestions. Thanks

Be careful if going for the 6 cylinder as I'm sure most of the navigational/night events are up to 2.0 & no turbo.

The 318 Ti Compact would be a good option for you & something we are involved in as a number of our customers are racing in the Compact Cup in Scotland. We've supplied them the usual safety equipment (seats, belts, extinguishers, bonnet pins, cut off switch, etc) as well as the Powerflex Black Series range of competition bushes & are currently working on a 2-1/4" competition stainless steel exhaust system & sports cat along with the possibility of downpipes as well.
