Damn! thought I had a good price there. Most people I've heard from paid around 300+ Vat for theirs Price must depend on how good the cash flow is on a given day

R.e the diff cover, It was actually a very nice casting and seeing as I had the black paint mixed up I was just beeing lazy. But in all honesty I dont like it either If I get the time I may blast it again and paint it silver.

On a seperate note, I've got another diff unit with some experimental ramp angles and had it machined for the 4 plate kit. What I cant decide on is which plates to buy. The guy who built my last one said to avoid the drive and traction ones as they dont last. The unit I ran last year was built with the more expensive Gatrac plates and has done 2 hillclimbs, a thousand road miles in my e36 daily and its still as tight as the day it was first used. What are others opinion on the drive and traction kit? theres only about 60 quid in it so it doesnt matter too much but would still be nice to know....

Don't worry it wasnt lonely. There were at least half a dozen others just out of shot, together with 3 empty chip cartons, a pizza box and a large assortment of fag butts littered around the floor

Not quite, I only ever managed 4 in a row, Scott did 5 including the 18" american with Jalapeno's from the bowling alley

Haven't touched the car for the past month until this weekend. The good news is that the new diff (4plate with 30 degree ramp angles) is assembled and ready to drop in. Have also ordered my fuel lines and fitting aswell as a fuel smapling kit from torques UK. Flywheel is ordered too but have been told a couple of weeks until another batch are complete.

So, I turned my attention to the front of the car. Bearing in mind i wanted something to mount the skid guard to but also wanted it to be more permanent than the previous set up which was a pure bolt on jobby. This is what I came up with. The top part is removable so that the motor can go in without having to be tilted at al sorts of angles and the scuttle bolts onto the innner wings and the gusseted tubes via 6mm nutserts and some cap head bolts. Just need to paint this lot satin black, then when the flywheel is here I can focus on getting the motor and box together and in the car. Should give me a bit more motivation, not to mention more space in the garage ehich is in short supply at the moment!

That's a good sized rad. Is it a one off?

It looks like you have done, but try and keep the rad on the exhaust side?
S14's are fed cold air between the side of the rad and the lamps....Maybe your mule could be fed cool air this way?

Our flywheel turned into a bit of a saga but it did get sorted, when we had the crank balancing looked at, it needed correction - im unsure why. Its now sat in the box whilst we are prepping doors and wings.

unfortunately theres no way to move the rad over more, its an e36 M3 alloy copy and only just fits bewteen the chassis legs. Hopefully the motor will be getting a carbon airbox. Plan is to use make a shielded box to fit behind the headlight with a subtle scoop above it in the bonnet but will have to see how it goes.

Hopefully the flywheel will arrive as promised and no sagas will arise. Have heard only good things about TTV but we shall see

e30 lamps have plenty of gaps around them and you can drill out the front grill around the headlamps to get in some more cool air, a couple of suttle bonnet vents might help bit like this one-

I think I may just make do with triming the grills and headlights

Whilst I was in the other shed on Thursday I took the bumper and front panel off a tech 1 sport I keep in there just to see how well it looks. First off I trimmed the front panel down to the bare minimum to shed a bit of weight. After a bit of bending and bashing I got it to fit reasonably well. The car it came off has quite obviously been in a bump and poorly repaired so its no wonder nothing would fit at first.



Just need to make some tabs coming off the scuttle support bars and that should hold it securely enough.



And a trial fit of the bumper. Luckily it sits spot on with the frame I welded in for the sump guard. I think it should suit the new colour scheme a bit more. Reg will also be getting transfered just cos im sad



Ive approached the stage now where the garage really needs another deep clean before anything can get done properly so think thats going to be the next job unless of course the flywheel arrives before that!
