New to this forum thinking of going bmw for tarmac rallying (parking up the mk2)

Love RWD but need to get the fun back

I was looking at a slow development of a car starting with a 135 as a base? the issue being the turbo!

Has anybody done the conversion to normally aspirated on the 09 onwards engine?
if so what's involved and what sort of power could be expected from a standard ish engine ?
What upgrades are recommended dry sump, cams rods etc

Any help would be appreciated

Probably better off starting with a 130, depends how muchch extra shiny bits that the 135 uses that you would retain on a rally car, if the bits that make it more expensive are removed anyway then far easier to start with a 130.

I see quite a few very quick 1 series rallying in belgium, saw Snijers take overall win against r5 evos and 911 gt3's last year

Theres no way to de turbo the n54 within any sensible budget and seems long winded to think about it. Its a problem engine anyway to be fair

if you're looking at the 135 but want NA then the car you want is a 125i. Its a detuned 3.0. Its the same engine as the 130i but you need to upgrade to the stage let manifold and re map it to see the 130i's power.
